Electricity chief explains power failure
The Chief Executive of the Electric Power Corporation (E.P.C), Tologata Tile Tuimalealiifano, has apologised for the unscheduled power outage in Upolu yesterday afternoon.
At Vaitele, electricity was disconnected just after 1pm and it was not restored until 4.30pm.
Contacted for a comment, Tologata said the outage was unplanned.
“Disconnected transmission lines was caused by fallen trees, cutting off the connection to our main plant supply, thus impacting the supply to all of Upolu,” he said.
“Our technical teams have cleared the fault and have completed works in ensuring the system is back to normal.
“We appreciate and thank you for your continuous support and patience.”
The unscheduled interruption of electricity supply caused widespread unhappiness among businesses affected by it.
