The Attorney General’s Office is yet to finalise the attempted murder charge against Peter Tulaga Eliesa, in connection with the shooting of a woman in the face two weeks ago.

Represented by lawyer, Leota Tima Leavai, the defendant made his initial appearance in the Supreme Court for criminal mention, before Supreme Court Justice Leiataualesa Darryl Clarke, yesterday.

Lucymariu Sio Ofoia from the Attorney General’s Office sought the Court’s indulgence for a two-week adjournment, in order to finalise the charges.

Eliesa is in Police custody, though during his appearance for mention, the defense counsel advised the Court of a bail application for her client.

But Mrs. Ofoia informed the Court the Attorney General’s Office opposes bail and they have yet to respond to the bail application.

The matter is now scheduled for February 4 for re-mention and for the Attorney General’s Office to finalise the charge.

The gun shooting victim remains in a critical condition and is currently undergoing medical procedure in New Zealand, after she was medivacked out of Samoa last week.
