Another car crash
Regardless of a very visible warning sign, the intersection of Maota and Moso’oi Roads at Vaitele, is fast becoming known for the number of car accidents that have occurred there.
The sign was put up to warn drivers that they should slow down when their vehicles head towards the intersection.
But once again, on Friday, two vehicles collided there.
When the Samoa Observer arrived at the scene, the taxi was being towed away while the van involved in the same accident was still there.
According to some of the bystanders who were in the area, the taxi was in the wrong.
Meanwhile the owner of the van who did not wish to be named, said he was at home when he received a call from his son that he had been involved in an accident. He said his son was driving from the Vaitele Market but the taxi was speeding towards the intersection.
“I was told by my son he tried to slow down but it was too late; the taxi was speeding and hit the van,” he said.
“My son said the taxi driver was talking to his passenger and was not paying attention to the road.” He said police had left the scene and he was on his way to the Tuanaimato Police Post to sort out the matter.
The Samoa Observer approached the police officer who was at the scene to ask what had happened, but he said he didn’t know who was at fault and that was why he was going to the police station to begin the investigation.
