Samoa has slipped to 9th place on the World Ranking after a poor performance at the Cape Town Sevens last weekend.

Samoa’s No. 1 team went into the tournament ranked 6th after a stellar performance in Dubai only to be dogged by inconsistency and an error-ridden tournament.

Samoa started their Cape Town campaign with a win over former Coach Damian Mcgrath’s Canadian side, 19- 17.

But it all went downhill from there.

They lost 17-12 to Wales and then 38-7 to Fiji in their last two pool games.

The Manu Samoa did not make it to the top eight teams during the playoffs in Cape Town but was in the Trophy Quarter finals.

Samoa managed to overcome Kenya during the first Trophy’s playoff by 19-15 at fulltime, while lost the Trophy Semi-final against Spain 24-0.

After the Manu Samoa performance during the first two H.S.B.C. World Sevens series round in Dubai and Cape Town. Samoa has now slipped to 9th place.

New Zealand claimed the Cup overcoming Argentina 38-14, while Dubai champions South Africa claiming the 3rd spot after defeating Canada for 3rd and 4th spot for the Cape Town tournament.

For the overall World Series Standing after Dubai and Cape Town tournaments, New Zealand is now sitting in the first place with 41 points, South Africa 39 points, Fiji on third spot 28 points, England at fourth 27 points and Argentina at 5th place 24 points.
