A man from Tuanai and a church are the two winners of water tanks from a promotion run by the Samoa Water Authority.

Tavita Faavaoga and the Loimata Apaula Congregational Christian Church of Samoa — which is led by Rev. Letupu Matautia — were announced by the Authority as the winners of its pay-and-win promotion.

Speaking to the Samoa Observer, Tavita said the 3600 litre water tank will benefit his large family due to their distant location.

“We are a family of seven and because we are situated at a very distant location, we need the tank to store water in days of cyclones or when the water supply is disconnected.

“We thank God for this blessing, but also acknowledging SWA for this great opportunity to distribute customers with further assistance.

“I was able to win by joining the promotion by paying my monthly water bill on time but there are other ways people can enter by paying any outstanding bills, reconnecting water supply and filling out a form on counter,” he said.

The Samoa Water Authority CEO, Seugamaali’i Jammie Saena, said the promotion was launched in December last year and was drawn this month.

“The promotion is an initiative of Samoa Water Authority to encourage its valued customers to save water, pay their bills and also be wise water users.

“The objective of this promotion is to promote the concept of saving water with the usage of water tanks. Also for people to pay their water bills on time and arrears to avoid having water disconnected,” she said.

The promotion by the Authority will be run from December 2018 to May 2019.
