Future auditor, Wesley College’s Dux

Yesterday was a special day for the students of Wesley College as their achievements were recognized in front of family and friends.

But the day was just a little more special for Aliitasi Perenise, from the villages of Manono and Salelologa.

The 18 year old was named Wesley College’s 2016 valedictorian making her parents, Talaave and Perenise Perenise the proud and happy.

The third child out of five in her family, Aliitasi also managed to top English, Economics and Accounting.

“This achievement is very special to me,” she told the Samoa Observer.

“It has given me a lot of confidence and I am full of joy right now. I give all the glory and honour to God who gave me the strength throughout my education with Wesley College.

“I also want to take this opportunity as this year’s Dux to thank everyone who has helped me get to where I am; my teachers, family, friends and all those who supported me.”

But like all great things, hard work is always the main ingredient.

“It wasn’t easy to achieve this,” Aliitasi said.

“I worked very hard to get here and I am happy to say that this was one of my biggest goals. I have always wanted to be the Dux and here I am.

“Just like everything, you have to put in the work to get there.”

But where to now for the young Wesley Dux?

“I want to be an auditor in the future,” Aliitasi said.

“That’s my next goal and I am one step closer to it. Again I want to thank everyone who showed me support.

“This award is for all of you.”
