The Savai’i Samoa Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was reorganized by Elder Craig A. Cardon and Elder Robert J. Dudfield of the Seventy last week.

Elder Cardon resides in New Zealand and is a member of the Pacific Area Presidency. Elder Dudfield resides in Australia

A stake is a Mormon term for a group of congregations, called wards, in a geographical area, similar to a diocese in other Christian churches. The Savai’i Samoa Stake comprises seven wards (Fataloa, Salelologa, McKay 1st, McKay 2nd, Fusi Safotulafai, Tapueleele, Vaiola) and comprises around 3,000 members.

Members of the stake gathered together to sustain and welcome Solovi Lelei Tuitasi as their new stake president, together with Faafetai Namulauulu as first counsellor and Tuli T. Matuauto as second counsellor.

Released President Siakisone Taleni has just begun his new role as the Principal of the LDS Church College of Pesega on the island of Upolu. Along with President Taleni, President Fagaese Afasene, served as first counsellor. Both of these men laboured faithfully in the former presidency to bless the lives of Church members throughout the stake.

Former second counsellor, Tuli T . Matuauto, was called back to serve in the new stake presidency after his release as a counsellor to former President Taleni.

Members of the stake were deeply touched by the messages of Elder Cardon and Elder Dudfield, expressing gratitude for and feeling blessed by their words and counsel, as they focused their remarks on several aspects of the gospel of Jesus Christ and His atonement.
