Life in Upolu and Savaii seems the same and although most people consider Upolu as the place to be Siulepa Fale from Vaisala Savaii, still prefers life in Savaii, the land where he grew up on.

Village Voice caught up with the 32-year-old when he was on his way to his rugby game.

“I just came from Savaii,” he said to the Village Voice.

“I play for a rugby team here in Faleasiu which is why I came.

“I don’t usually come to Upolu because my life is in Savaii.

“Most people say that whatever is happening in Upolu, the same thing is happening in Savaii and I partly agree but I prefer Savaii as the place to settle down because it’s so peaceful.

“You find everything that you need there.

“I guess that’s easy for me to say because I grew up there but I know everyone who comes to visit feels the same way I do right now.

“Considering the many problems and accidents happening nowadays, Savaii is a good place for you to get away from all the new changes in this life.

“Savaii is home and I find it hard to stay anywhere else but there.

“I have my work there and I have my life there and my mom. She’s the one who gives me hope every day to work hard and be myself.

“I think that’s one of the things I love about Savaii, people all get along because they know each other.

“People in Upolu are always busy with their work and often they don’t have the time to be with their families.

“I can’t imagine staying anywhere else but Savaii.

Siulepa works at S.M.I. at Salelologa and he told Village Voice that his family consists only of him and his mom.

“I work because I’m the only one supporting my mother and playing rugby is just like some fun on the side.

“I love rugby and that explains why I come all the way just for the games.”
