A mother does her best to teach her child how to live life to the fullest.

Aioama Ma’ilata, a 55-year-old-mother-of-one believes this is what makes a good mother.

When the Village Voice caught up with her yesterday morning she quickly made her views known.

“We need to accept that this life is very difficult,” she said.

“Then we need to adjust to bring up a family in the right way despite all the challenges with money being the central focus.”

Hard work is the key and both parents have a role to play.

“We have a small plantation at the back of our house and that’s what we mostly rely on for our daily sustenance,” she told the Village Voice.

“My son is the only one who provides for our family financially. Despite the struggles we have faith in God to give us the strength to continue on in this life.

“To be honest, as of today, nothing has brought me more peace in life than simply being a good mother to my child and my parents.”

Aioama knows that the times are difficult.

“But that’s how life is these days, if we don’t sweat, you’ll die and your whole family will die with you. It’s just that simple,” she said.

“We believe that a family that has the peace of God, whatever circumstances that comes their way, they will still be together because the peace of God guides them.”

Another key to dealing with struggles is to enjoy and appreciate every day.

“Personally we have to learn and enjoy every precious moment,” she said.

“We don’t wait for tomorrow to make you happy. You can start today.

“We need to work together for the good of our children, family and country.”
