A most ignorant idea

Dear Editor,

Re: That reasonable force could kill a student

It is the most ignorant and most tunnel vision joke of an approach to solve a much broader issue. It is an uneducated single minded view to apply Reasonable Force as a mean of controlling and managing school children.

To even consider Reasonable Force to be put to law is outrageous. We cannot have Reasonable Force as one resolution to nurture our children’s future, for it limits their mental tools on how to solve bigger issues.

The effect of it to a child is a life changing experience. You cannot bash an idea into a child and expect her/him to come out the other end unscathed, there will be drawbacks. Her/his free will is tainted; their natural charisma and expressions are suppressed.

Reasonable force could and would engraved into their young minds a replica or similar response when encountering future problems, (which is violence they’ll learn of getting it from the teachers) that could have been negotiated easily and avoided.

Minister of Education and Sports and teachers who agreed to this, must find in your educated minds, better and creative ideas to help our young children.

Don’t bring your frustrations on our kids just because you have no imagination whatsoever on how to teach them.

Reconsider your approach we still have time to foster more favourable and acceptable ways and ideas to ensure our kids are well equipped physically, spiritually, and psychologically to tackle the vastness of world and life when their time comes.

They are not your kids. They are our kids. We have entrusted you with their education and so be it that they are treated the way you want to be appropriated. Fa’afetai.
