Using our local strength and resources

Dear Editor,

Re: Preparing for the tough times ahead

Great message Mata’afa!

The way forward in protecting Samoa’s future is through learning from our past sustainability of the fertile land that abounds us.

Too few are accepting of this panacea.

However, some thankfully have realised that real opportunities exist and place their faith in themselves to be the agents of change.

The sooner this message is endorsed seriously through the country’s leaders, whether Govt, Church or the from a village level the sooner Samoa can take back control of its destiny with benefits that combat the social, financial and health issues we face.

Sustainability through utilising our local strengths and resources is not unattainable here.

We have to lead the way for our people, we have to make the change, we have the power to resist the easy way out through dependency on “someone else”.

And for those who think sharing our home with other cultures (and their business practices) is the only issue we face... go out and buy a mirror (even if it’s only a cheap one from the local Saiga store). Just saying. Peace and harmony to all.
