Luke White, from Australia, found the right place to spend his long holidays.

He decided to come to Samoa to relax and see some new places. He arrived on 12 February and will stay in Samoa until 16 April.

The young man lives with a host family in Apia.  It is his second time to the islands.

He spent his first trip with some of his Australian friends for two weeks.

“I just loved it so much I had to come back,” he shared with Dear Tourist.

“I love the people the culture and the churches. It is such a good ambience and atmosphere.”

According to Luke, his church community in Australia helped him find a host family in Samoa.

Living with locals is so much nicer than living in a resort for him.

“You hear and learn so much more about the culture than in a resort. It is an authentic travel to really learn something about the country you visit. You are able to see what is going on behind the walls of the houses and the busy places.”

“I absolutely love to stay with the family,” he said.

He has also learned the importance of religion in Samoa by attending church every Sunday with his host family.

“The churches here are beautiful and there are so many of them. I absolutely love that,” he said.

Dear Tourist met him at the Savalalo market. He plans to do more shopping and buy some souvenirs for his relatives.

But he is not only interested in shopping, he wants to go around the island to visit places he did not see the first time he came.

“I just want to go and have a look around to see what is going on,” he mentioned.

It is already his second visit to Samoa and he is sure of returning to this beautiful destination.
