The Government will pay over $1 million to 15 hotels in Samoa to provide accommodation for the Pacific Games’ international Technical officials and delegates.

The Office of the Pacific Games advised in a media release yesterday that the Cabinet has approved the awarding of contracts worth a total of $1,355,280 to 15 hotels on both Upolu and Savai’i.

“The hotels are confirmed to provide accommodation for international technical officials and international delegates and will be paid according to the payment schedule stated in their respective contracts.

“The hotels were selected based on the number of officials, location and proximity of the hotel to the games venues and dining hall facilities, as well as the overall suitability in the transportation plan for the games,” the Games Office stated.

The Government of Samoa, according to the Games Office, are committed to maximizing opportunities that will benefit the development of sports as well as the public and private sectors.

“Securing hotels as one of the primary accommodation providers for the Pacific Games is a significant opportunity to further strengthen this long-standing public-private partnership.”

The hotels on Upolu that are listed as “accommodation providers” include: Apia Central Hotel, Hotel Elisa, Hotel Millenia, Insel Fehmarn Hotel, Le Alaimoana Hotel, Nia Mall Apartments, Moanalisa Hotel, Orator Hotel, Samoana Boutique Hotel, Tivoli Apartments and Tatiana Motel Tanugamanono.

The service providers on Savai’i include Lusia’s Lagoon Chalets, Jet Over Hotel, The Savaiian Hotel and Le Rosalote Guest Fales.
