The Ministry of Police is exploring all available options in the search for escaped convicts Pati Chong Nee and Aniseko Vaelei.

Police Commissioner Fuiavaili’ili Egon Keil said Police Officers along with their Tactical Unit are working 24-7 to find the escapees.

“All our resources are spent on looking for these men as we take it very serious that these two should not be out in society. And so we’re doing everything we can to find them. We are not just looking for them in Upolu, but also Savai’i,” he said.

Fuiavaili’ili has again appealed to members of the public to contact the police on phone number 22222 if they have any information on the whereabouts of the two convicts.

According to the notice by the Police, the men are considered dangerous and members of the public have been advised not to approach them.

Chong Nee and Vaelei are serving time at Tafaigata for a history of crimes including burglary, robbery and being armed with a dangerous weapon.

A statement from the Ministry of Police reports that they were alerted by the Prisons and Correctional Services (SPCS) on Sunday morning.

“We ask members of the public to contact the Samoa Police on phone number 22222 or contact any police station near you or the Prisons Authority on phone number 23516 if you have any information of their whereabouts.

“In support of SPCS, the Samoa Police Service wishes to thank members of the public for their ongoing assistance.”
