Review of development plan successful
A review of the Community Development Sector Plan 2016 – 2021 has been a fruitful exercise, says Afamasaga Faauiga Mulitalo.
The CEO of the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development said this when giving her assessment of the two-day forum at the TATTE Building.
The conference enabled stakeholders and sector partners to reflect on achievements by the Ministry as well as share best practices, and lessons learnt for better integrated planning and well-coordinated programme implementation.
The Minister for Women, Community and Social Development, Faimalotoa Iemaima Kika Stowers-Ah Kau, said the feedback will assist the Ministry in framing and modifying implementation strategies, to enable them to respond to the needs of communities in an effective and efficient manner.
“In order to realize the vision of the community sector plan, we require collective efforts, clear synergies, genuine partnerships and of course the resources,” she said.
Afamasaga said presentations on the last day of the conference focused mainly on what the Ministry is currently to respond to community needs.
“We gave the opportunity to our development partners to also inform participants of the forum, on their specific roles in supporting the initiatives, and activities which our communities are engaged in.
“I think it was important for all participants, particularly our community representatives, to find out more about resources that are available and the roles of our key partners—particularly our development partners, in supporting activities they are involved in, like developing projects that are within their respective villages,” she added.
The objectives of the two-day forum were met according to Afamasaga, as they received feedback from community stakeholders and the Ministry advised them of their intervention programmes.
