Major backing for U17 Football Team
Samoa’s National U17 Football team preparations are well underway for stage 2 of the O.F.C U17 Championship in Tahiti.
Now reaching the finals days before departure the U17 ‘s team has gained major sponsors who have come on board to ensure the boys have the tools necessary to do well.
They include SIFA, Vailima Breweries and even the Fijian Soccer Community.
The Samoa International Finance Authority (SIFA) has come onboard for the first time to donate $10,000 for the team’s campaign in Tahiti.
SIFA Business Development Manager Tapuitea Petaia & Administration Manager Moana Ahpoe presented the cheque on behalf of SIFA Management and Board to the Coaching staff of the U17 team.
Vailima Breweries, who is an adamant supporter of sporting bodies, donated much needed PowerAde product’s including training bottles, caps, training shirts, powder, ice bags and coolers for the team.
This is not the first time Vailima has come on board to assist the Football Federation.
Business Development Manager Eteuati Mua said, “Vailima supports all sorts of sports in Samoa; this is not only for Soccer but for rugby and other sports.”
Last but not least, the Fijian Soccer Community based in Samoa donated food for the U17 team’s camp.
Samoa’s neighbour in the Pacific showed true sportsmanship by transcending national identity to support the U17’s campaign.
Spokesperson of the Soccer Community Neil said, “ the donation is a small token of appreciation to the Football Federation Samoa and the Under 17’s (team).”
The O.F.C championship will commence on February 11-24 and Samoa will take on New Zealand , Fiji and the Solomon Islands.
