Island Rock steps up for Weightlifting

For many years, the Samoa Weightlifting Federation has been making Samoa proud.

And one company that has always been behind the Federation’s success and achievements is Island Rock Company.

And they continue to help.

They have again stepped in to help the weightlifting team that will represent Samoa in the Commonwealth Games in the beginning of next month.

Sales and Marketing Manager, Maiava Iosia Maiava, presented the team with weightlifting gear worth more than $5,000.

The gear include Nike lifting suits worth US$110 for one suit (T$279), shoes worth US$260 a pair (T$659) and belts worth US$90 for one belt (T$228).

He said this is their way of contributing to the development of weightlifting in Samoa.

“We know that the team needs help in terms of gears to use at the Commonwealth Games,” he said.

“Therefore we decided to present these gears to the team because this is one of the sports that has always been putting Samoa’s name on the map.

“We know they need help hence why we are presenting these to the management and the athletes.

“We hope that this will help the team and we wish them all the best during the competition.”

Manager of the Samoa Weightlifting Federation, Ola Salimu Lui, acknowledged the support of the company.

“This is not the first time Island Rock Company has stepped in to help us,” he said.

“We are in debt to the company because we know that we don’t get enough support but they have always been there,” he said.

“We would like to thank you for helping out the association.

“It’s a great feeling knowing that there are people out in the community who are always willing to lend a hand.

“May the Lord continue to bless the company as well as the management and staff.”
