Bluesky Samoa ordered to produce directories

Local telecommunications company Bluesky Samoa Limited has been ordered to issue the next telephone directory for mass distribution within 24 months. 

The directive was issued by Regulator Lefaoali’i Unutoa Auelua-Fonoti in an order dated February 13, 2019. 

The telephone directory for this year was recently issued by the company. The authority under which the directive is given is Section 56 of the Telecommunications Act 2005. 

“The telephone directory must be published in hard copy and is issued on a biennial basis and it should include all listing accessional on the directory assistance 933 – unless required otherwise by the user name. The telephone directory must be made available for pick-up at all Bluesky storefront locations or delivery.” 

“The directory must include the blue pages; white pages; yellow pages, emergency services, utilities, hospitals, doctors and organizations who can provide support in time of crisis. International dialing codes and access numbers” should be included as well,” stated the order from the Office of the Regulator. 

Furthermore, the Regulator ordered that the directory is provided at no cost or minimal cost to the public.

“Failure  to comply with this order shall result in the office of the Regulator taking appropriate legal action for non-compliance,” Lefaoali’i added.
