Kirita Kenese of Malie knows this much.

Without money, life can be pretty miserable.

The 36-year-old mother expressed this view when she was interviewed by the Village Voice.

“Only one person of my family who does the work is my husband,” she said.

“What I see nowadays is that everything in life is all about money, that’s why people work hard to provide for their family and children.”

“In my family, we all live together with my husband, my kids as well as my husband’s parents.”

“Caring for two elderly people is not easy because every day you provide food for them and food comes from money.”

“My husband is the only person providing for my family and I know very well it is not easy because he gets up early and comes late from work.”

The mother said she wanted to work.

“But I see if we both went to work then we don’t know who is going to stay home.”

“I want to help my husband because the money he earns form his job his not enough for what we need.”

But Mrs. Kenese is positive.

“The struggle every day is making sure we earn some money for our family especially our kids,” she said

“Luckily I only have two-kids. But money provides everything and it pays for water and electricity.”

Mrs. Kenese said she tries to contribute to her family by ensuring everything at home are in order and that the children and her husband’s parents are well looked after.

“We might be poor but at least we try our best in whatever we can do for our family.”
