Man falls from coconut tree to his death

Last week was quite tragic according to the Police.

Two people died from suicide while three others died from tragic incidents.

That’s according to the Police spokesperson, Su’a Le Mamea Tiumalu, yesterday.

With regards to the three men who have lost their lives as a result of non-intentional incidents, the first incident claimed the life of a 44-year-old man who fell off a coconut tree while working at his plantation.

“He was fetching coconuts and regrettably he fell to his death,” says Su’a.

“The doctors at the hospital found wounds to the back of his head and internal injuries from the fall, which are believed to be the cause of death.”

In the second case, the police station in Siumu received a report of the death of a 27-year-old man who passed away on Tuesday last week

 “The deceased was using a two-foot light bulb to light the working area. He was holding the light in one hand and working with the other, and unfortunately there was a circuit problem with the wiring and he was electrocuted while he was working.”

The 27-year-old male died on the way to Poutasi District Hospital.

The last death reported was a 22-year-old man whose body was found floating in the sea atSavai’i.

A “The deceased went fishing late at night. There were two of them who went fishing on that night. However, they went separate ways when they got to the sea and about an hour later his colleague found his lifeless body floating.”

The first case of suicide was reported to the Police Station at Lalomanu on Thursday last week. 

The second suicide was reported to the Police Station at Tuasivi on Thursday as well.
