Samoa a favourite destination

Elane Wisely is on the verge of becoming “local”—she and her husband travel to Samoa every two years for holidays.

Hailing from Pirongia, a small town in the Waipa District of the Waikato region of New Zealand’s North Island, the 66-year-old woman has over the years travelled frequently to Samoa for holidays.

“We find Samoa so lovely and we always want to come back. That’s why we always travel here for holiday and it’s two times a year and we come every year,” she said.

Talking to Dear Tourists in an interview, Elane said they previously travelled with their children—but their children have grown and now travel on their own—hence this time around it is just her and her husband.

The couple will be in Samoa for 11 days, and having seen all that Samoa has to offer over the years— on both the islands of Upolu and Savai’i—this time around it is their experiences of staying at one of Samoa’s newest resorts that they wanted to share.

“We went snorkeling, we went around the island, we went site seeing, lava fields and the turtles,” she said.

In terms of the resort that they are currently staying at, Elane said the Taumeasina Island Resort has been good to them since they arrived in Samoa.

“The service has been very good although we just arrived for only one night but the resort has been very good. The staff is very lovely and they’re all so friendly.”

When asked about a favourite Samoan dish, Elane they have tasted a good number of Samoan local dishes in their previous visits to the island nation.

“We have lots of Samoans in New Zealand and that’s where we have learnt about the Samoan dances and performances. We just love Samoa and we’ll keep coming back every year,” she added.
