A large group of members attended the monthly Chamber of Commerce meeting on Monday evening hosted by Digicel at the Hotel Tanoa Tusitala.

The formalities were followed by a short explanation from M.C.I.L.’s staff on the Competition and Consumer Act, 2016.

Members were then treated to an interesting  and informative Power Point presentation, ‘The Internet of things’ by the Digicel Sales Director,  Matteo Catanuto.

Matteo spoke on the evolution of the Internet and the generation of users.

He pointed out that we are now in a very exciting age of technology and Samoa, while not there yet, is fast moving to a digital/paper-less economy.

He also pointed out the data plans available at Digicel and answered questions on the effect that the cable will have once it lands in Samoa.

In answer to questions he said that of course, we can expect prices to go down but it will require testing first and there won’t be any significant changes straight away.

Digicel is committed to providing ICT services to Samoa and any savings made from the cable will be passed onto our customers, said Matteo.

The evening ended with the customary refreshments and networking.
