Being kind to others

Re: Don’t forget the hardships they’re going through

Bless you Mata’afa for the kindness at heart you’ve shown to the poor mother.

I would do the same thing, in fact I had an experience when I was waiting for a flight from L.A. to Portland when I noticed a mother with her teenage daughter stuck at the airport for two days since they were on stand by tickets and all the flights going to Seattle Washington were full.

She was begging the flight personnel with tears to get on the flight since her daughter has to be in school Monday for a special event. As I saw the event unfolding, I couldn’t bare watching but try to offer a solution to help. I suggested to her that there were seats available to the Portland flight but the problem was she has to rent a car to drive to Seattle from Portland.

I told her not to worry but just try and get to Portland then we’ll figure something out. When we got to Portland, I knew she didn’t have money to rent a car so I offered that I will pay for the rental but to make sure to return the car the next day.

She was in tears and said that no body had ever done anything like that to her before and was so thankful for what I did. I told her not to worry about it, but when she comes in contact with someone that needs help in the future, share the same experience with that person.

Sometimes it’s therapeutic to the one offering the service than the one receiving it. I felt good that night that I’ve helped someone that really needs the help. Very uplifting article to say the least.
