Parker continues as Digicel Ambassador

Digicel Samoa has extended their agreement with Lupesoliai Laauliolemalietoa Joseph Parker as their brand ambassador.

Digicel Samoa Chief Customer Officer, Deepak Khanna, made the announcement at the Digicel headquarters yesterday. He said they have extended Lupesoliai’s two-year agreement for another 12 months.

C.E.O., Farid Mohammed says it has been an absolute pleasure working with Lupesoliai.

“We see the benefit of being associated with him. It is more than about the money, but his association with the people of Samoa."

“Despite the outcome of the fight, he is still very much loved by the nation. We feel proud to be associated with him."

“There is an increase and like we said before, he is the top five ranked in the world, so he would definitely get more money now,” he said.

Mr. Mohammed says Lupesoliai will come back again bigger and better, stronger and faster just like Digicel.

“That is one of the great things about Joseph and his team, whatever the outcome was, we agreed to a renewal and both parties have stuck to that."

“Even if he had won the fight in Cardiff, it will not change our agreement with him. His association with the Samoan public, having his face on our billboards and promotions, it creates association with the people of Samoa."

“Digicel is in 31 countries in the globe. I could put Usain Bolt on our billboards but nobody would really associate with him."

“It is the association that we are trying to create,” he adds.

Mr. Khanna said: “Joseph is our brand ambassador not just here in Samoa but globally. He is standing shoulder to shoulder with Usain Bolt who is another brand ambassador of Digicel."

“The most recent promotion that we had with Joseph Parker was to win a trip of the lifetime of the mother and son who went to Cardiff to witness the biggest fight of team Parker’s history,” said Mr. Khanna.

Joseph also assured the Samoan people that he will take on Anthony Joshua again.

“If we plan it right and keep on winning, it will take one year. It will probably take two to three fights before I could fight Joshua again,” Lupesoliai said.

“We want to get there as soon as we can but we want to work on a few things, so when we get there we don’t make the same mistakes. So that we will go there, we are going to win.”
