The fashion market hosted by Amoa resort in Savai’i last weekend set the tone for the Teuila festivities as the island prepares for the 2018 Miss Samoa Pageant.

The creators of the Savai’i fashion market beamed the fashion signal, and enthusiastic fashion lovers from around the big island were only too happy to answer the call.

Buyers were rewarded with one-day specials and were treated to some of Samoa and the Pacific’s most prominent labels on display.  Hand printed fabrics by Kuki Samoa and bespoke tradition-inspired jewelry, made especially for the Savaii market were a hit with the customers, as were House 88 who brought the glam with their international formal wear and accessories.

Also in attendance was special guests Mareko of the Cook Islands whose vibrant hand printed pareu (lavalava), muu muu, tropical pales and dresses were according to the fashion market organisers – hot ticket items.

Arlene Godinet Ryan, Nelly Samoa manager, said she was blown away with the response and it was a great opportunity for their Savai’i-based customers.

Equally as excited was Maria Leota, managing director of KUKI, who said the day was huge success and after receiving a lot of positive feedback from customers, it encouraged her to return to the big island.

Speaking to the Samoa Observer, resorts sales manager Elisabeth Siaosi said the day created a dynamic atmosphere at their resort and added to the excitement amongst Savai’ians over the much anticipated 2018 Miss Samoa Pageant this weekend.

“It was overwhelmingly popular and we were so delighted to be able to put on an event that people were happy to attend."

“Customers were walking away with bags of shopping, a sign that we in Savai’i are just as fashion conscious as Upolu and overseas. It was an inaugural event that we hope to be an annual pre-Teuila calendar event in the future. A photo shoot was also held at the resort for each of the sellers,” Siaosi said.
