The health and well being of the people of Samoa received a tremendous boost yesterday thanks to the Government of Japan.

Yesterday, Japan’s Ambassador to Samoa, Maugaoleatuolo Shinya Aoki, presented a mobile dental vehicle valued at T$1.69million  (JPY 71,700,000) to the Associate Minister of Heath, Salausa Dr. John Ah Ching.

The dental vehicle was supplied to the Government of Samoa based on the Exchange of Notes signed on 29 April 2018 between the Ambassador of Japan and Prime Minister Tuilaepa Dr. Sailele Malielegaoi.

In February 2018, Dental equipment and Fire Engines were handed over to the N.H.S. and Fire Emergency Services Authority respectively.

Japan believes that with good health system will eventually assist in nation building in the future which considers health-closely related to people’s welfare a top agenda of the Japan-Samoa relations.

It is expected that with this assistance, the N.H.S. and its dental clinic will go a long way in strengthening and improving oral health care outreach programmes to several communities and schools across Samoa.
