Tauma’oe Anitele’a is Nu’uausala’s dux
Tauma’oe Anitele’a from Fasito’o-tai and Nofoali’i was yesterday named Dux of Nu’uauasala College.
Tauma’oe has nine siblings and she is the seventh of Leoleoga and Anitele’a Anitele’a’s children. Her family and friends were present with leis of lollies to celebrate her achievement.
Taumaoe scored the highest marks in Accounting, Computing, Samoan and Religion knowledge.
“I want to thank God for His unending love, especially for helping my family especially my mother all these years,” Taumaoe said with tears.
“I understand that it’s not easy, but my family tried every single way to put me in school, and I thank God for them.”
The 17-year-old hopes to become an accountant.
“Being an accountant is what I always wanted to be and I know this is one a step forward towards that dream,” she said. “Every one has some skills and is good at doing something, so for me, I am good at accounting.
“So I like to do what I know well and that’s the simple reason why I want to pursue this dream of mine.”
Her mother, Leoleoga held back tears of joys as she shared the sacrifices they had to make for her daughter’s education.
“No matter the stress we went through all this time to put Tauma’oe in school, the pain has already been paid off with what she has accomplished today (yesterday).
“For your information, we have to sell crops and everything strength with the help of my older children to put her through school.
“Now our prayers have been answered and we are so happy. Glory to God for His grace.
“For my daughter, I encourage her to stay focussed on what’s next and try to make use of all opportunities and what life has to offer.
“And always remember God in all her ways!”
The top Year 12 student was Vineta Matafusi.
Nu’uausala College is one of the six secondary schools of the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa.
The other high achievers are:
• Renae Alafua topped Year 11;
