More than three hundred descendants of Lefauaitu Afoa Peapea and Motuomanono of Pata Falelatai gathered at Wesley Motel on Friday to celebrate their family reunion.

Lefauaitu and Motuomanono, who have passed on, have 12 children and hundreds more grandchildren and great grandchildren.

According to grandson Pao Misa Lefauaitu, the gathering is to foster the relationship between the many generations of the family. The reunion is the first for the family.  “Many don’t know that they are related to one another,” said Pao.

“It’s important that as they grow up they know where they come from, their ancestors and the many generations before and the next.”

Those that attended the reunion come from Australia, New Zealand, American Samoa, the United States and Samoa.

The three day reunion will include introduction between the families, sports day, and fiafia night.

The family will also launch a book written by their very own Rev. Dr Ioane Afoa called Saili Malo, a history of Christian Church.
