The Samoa Rugby Union Development team continued its  GiR/PiU programs from Itu O Tane in Savaii and now throughout some of the primary and secondary schools in Upolu.

The aim of the program is to develop the young kids basic rugby skills and educate the importance of RUGBY’s CORE VALUES, such as Discipline, Integrity, Respect and others.

The GiR/PiU program has been very busy the last few weeks because we have introduced our program to some of the various mission schools, private schools, likewise also government schools.

When introducing the basics of rugby to the young kids they have shown an interest to play tag rugby and practice various rugby drills such as passing, catching and side stepping.

“The success of our program has even had some schools requiring us to take over their Physical Education class for the whole week, as we build the knowledge and skills to provide a positive exercise environment with the students.

We are happy to keep it going throughout  the year as we know the program helps to bring  kids together no matter what school they’re attending and the program is for both boys and girls”. Shalom Senara, Development Coordinator.
