Help needed in struggle for water
Our God is a loving and caring God because we still get to survive without water.
While Umaga Samasoni from Leulumoega uta is blessed with lands of his own to depend on, he’s missing one important thing; water.
Mr. Samasoni was doing some work with his wife on their land when the Village Voice spotted them.
He said the struggle for water is nothing new. He is 63 years old now.
“Ever since I came into this world, having no water has always been an issue here in our area,” he said.
“That’s because the pipelines don’t reach here.
“We only have a water tank that we bought to live on, so if we don’t have water, we go to the inner village to fetch water.
“We have already discussed this with our Member of Parliament (faipule) and up to now, there’s still no solution for this problem.
“This is a problem and a struggle to us because water is important to everyone; it’s a need to everyone.
“We use it for our laundry, for making food, basically everything and yet it’s one of the things we don’t have it.
“We can’t have our little children stay here because there’s no water.
“We really need water here please because life without water is a lot harder than you think.”
Mr. Samasoni’s wife Pualele Konelio also added on to this by saying “Every living thing needs water; even animals and we have pigs that we are taking care of.
“We need water; we’ve always wanted to voice our need for help in this case so it’s a good thing your Village Voice programme reached us because it’s 2017 and we still don’t have any water pipelines set up on our side.
“Water is life for everyone.”
