The Samoa Chamber of Commerce held its monthly members’ meeting on Monday at the Samoa Breweries Headquarters at Vaitele.

The meeting was chaired by Samoa Chamber of Commerce’s Vice-President Jennifer Fruean and was made possible with the kind assistance and sponsorship of Samoa Breweries.

The Regulator, Lefaoalii Unutoa Fonoti was present along with Moe Lene from the Electric Power Corporation to present to the private sector on the new EPC Multi-year Tariff Proposal 2017/2018.  The Electric Power Corporation’s new proposed tariff rates indicate an increase in tariff rates and tier structure.

The objectives of the new proposed rates were for the tariff to be affordable for the public, to cover the Electric Power Corporation operating and capital costs and to meet legislative requirements for Public Bodies.

The Office of the Regulator will conduct a review according to its obligations under the Electricity Act, taking into account input by stakeholders and E.P.C.

The Samoa Breweries National Sales Manager, Aumua George Avia, welcomed the Chamber members on behalf of General Manager Alfred Chan.

This was followed by a presentation from Business Development Manager Seteuati Mau and Sales Manager Fa’asao Mulivai outlining Samoa Breweries history, products, community outreach and their local, regional and global targeted markets.

Six businesses were introduced as new members of the Chamber of Commerce. They were My Island Realtors, KUKI Co. Ltd, Swire Shipping, Tui’s Café/Lemonade/Tui Samoa Rentals, High Tech Youth Network and Samoa Carving and Horn Farm.

The Samoa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. as the National Private Sector Organisation of Samoa is funded by the Pacific Leadership Program (P.L.P).
