Barbara Tino Tiufea Vaa is Miss Samoa Fa’afafine

It was a night of high heels, sparkle, glamour, feathers, and ferocious talent at the 2018 Miss Samoa Fa’afafine with Barbara Tino Tiufea Vaa coming out tops. 

The pageant, which attracted 10 of Samoa’s finest fa’afafine, was held at the Tuanaimato gym1 last Friday evening.

Addressing the crowd of well wishers, sponsors and family and friends, Barbara expressed her appreciation and congratulated her colleagues for having the courage to stride the catwalk. 

“We are God’s gift to earth, given the vast talents we possess,” said the newly crowned queen. 

She was also thankful to the S.F.A. Executive Council, the sponsors of the contestants and the sponsors of the pageant as well as the Sosaiete o Fa’afafine I Amerika Samoa (S.O.F.I.A.).

The contestants were judged under five categories: best creative wear, swim wear, talent, evening gown and interview. The award for best interview, best creative wear and the most talented Fa’afafine went to Ranier Matuaitofiga. The swim wear catergory was won by Rubenita Pa'u, while the newly crowned Miss S.F.A. won the best evening gown. 

For the special awards, the best speech and Miss Photogenic was won by Miss FamFriends, Tanu Okesene while the Miss Sports Faafafine and Miss Internet awards were won by the newly crowned Miss S.F.A. Barbra. The Miss Personality award went to Moore Valentino. 

The fourth runner-up was Celine Hunter with Malisha Vaifale coming in third, Rubenita Pa'u was second runner-up, and Ranier Matuaitofiga the first runner-up.

The contestants were Mandy Laauli Lemalu (Miss J&M Creations), Lehara Keresoma (Miss Four Corners Taxi Stand), Celine Hunter (Miss Le Polynesian Island Wear), Tanu Ushel Okesene (Miss FamFriends), Malisha Vaifale (Miss Anoamaa Queens Association), Victoria-Sei Vainalei Chen Pao (Miss Samoa Faafafine), Tumua Valentino (Miss Aim Global), Rubenita Pa'u (Miss Le Foafoa), Barbra Tiufea Va'a (Miss Narica's Creations), and Ranier Matuaitofiga (Miss House of Kaena'ird).
