People have their own way of celebrating the end of another year and the beginning of the New Year.

Some may find themselves having a few cold beers in the company of family and friends, some may stay at home with loved ones reflecting on the year and then there are those who find themselves at church.

And with New Year’s Eve falling on a Sunday, there were many who found comfort in church giving thanks for 2017 and preparing their spiritual lives for yet another year to come.

According to Chris Leiloa Faleata, who commented on the significance of going to church during New Year, he feels there is no better place to be than at church.

“We make it through every year thanks to God,” he said during an interview with the Samoa Observer.

“Everyone in Samoa knows we are nothing without God. So why bother going anywhere else to celebrate the New Year?"

“The way I see it, God deserves the glory and thanks for bringing us safely to the end of 2017 and we need to ask him to protect and guide us as we go into 2018."

“That’s the whole reason I am here.”

Asked for his New Year’s resolution, Chris said he doesn’t believe in resolutions and would rather just live life each day with the help of the Lord.

He also stressed the only plan people should make is to strengthen their walk with God and nothing else.
