Former All Black Filo Tiatia named Sunwolves' coach

TOKYO (AP) — Filo Tiatia has been named the coach of the Japanese Super Rugby team Sunwolves.

Tiatia, a former national player for New Zealand, has agreed to terms on a two-year contract, Kyodo News agency reported on Monday.

The 45-year-old Tiatia was an assistant to Mark Hammett last season, when the Sunwolves had one win, one draw and 13 losses in their inaugural season.

In a statement on the team's website, Tiatia says, "I am looking forward to working with the players and staff I worked with in the 2016 season."

Tiatia also played for and coached Toyota Verblitz in Japan's Top League.
