Village captures escaped convict

Members of the public can breathe easier today. They are safe.

That’s because notorious prisoner escapee, Tui Samuelu, has been caught.

It ends a three-week hunt for the thief who ran away from Tafa’igata when he faked an illness and was taken to the hospital for a medical check.

Yesterday, Tafaigata Prison’s Spokesperson, Sagaga Galu Frost, confirmed that Samuelu had been captured.

Sagaga said Samuelu was spotted by by members of Satapuala village who immediately contacted the Falelolo outpost.

Before the Police arrived, the villagers captured Samuelu and they handed him in. He is now behind bars.

Samuelu is serving time at Prison for burglary and theft as well as escaping from prison. 

He is from the villages of Manono- Tai, Falelauniu- Tai and Vailoa.

Sagaga said this is not the first time Samuelu had escaped from Tafaigata. 

This time, Samuelu ran away when he faked an illness and was taken to the hospital to see a doctor.
