Never mind the world, how about our audits?

Samoa’s PM & Auditor General in Disgrace

The PM’s failure to produce audits of government borrowing or spending for the past 17 years is disgraceful. With health care, education, infrastructure and water and power utilities so poorly managed and terrible roads, there is no sign that the borrowed money has been spent properly.

What do they do with the billions they borrow? So many attempts by the PM to distract with new public events and attacks on the Media and his book launch.

He has a degree in Economics, an honorary Doctorate in Law from Victoria University, but avoids audits and a son-in-law, Papali’i Fuimaono Camillo Afele, who is the Auditor General but can’t produce audits for the public to see where the money is being spent.

The Controller and Auditor General, Fuimaono Camillo Afele, has secured a leading global role.

He has been appointed to represent the Pacific Supreme Audit Institution (P.A.S.A.I) to the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (I.N.T.O.S.A.I) Governing Board.

The appointment was announced during the 22nd International Congress of Supreme Audit Institution (I.N.C.O.S.A.I) meeting held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in December 2016.

The Congress is the supreme organ of the I.N.T.O.S.A.I. and meets every three years. Fuimaono succeeds the Controller and Auditor General and Supreme Audit Institution of New Zealand, Lyn Provost, who held the position for the last seven years.

“The impact of the work of I.N.T.O.S.A.I and I.N.C.O.S.A.I on good and ethical governance and accountability as well as in improving the lives of citizens of the world is immense,” Fuimaono said in a media statement issued by his Office yesterday.

How can Papali’i Fuimaono Camillo stride the world stage as a model of ethical governance and accountability, when he can’t obey the laws of Samoa to produce one audit per year as required by S.40 of the Audit Act 2013.

IS PASAI a corrupt scam as well to appoint such a failure to such an important role?

The public raising the matter of this man and his father-in-law shamefully refusing to audit is part of the process that keeps public officials honest.

Shame on you Mr. PM! And your sidekick!
