The Japanese Embassy and the All Japan Judo Federation and Solidarity of International Judo Education have kindly donated fifty judo gears to the Samoa Judo Association yesterday afternoon.

President of Samoa Judo Association Travis Lamb said that he is very happy that the Samoa Judo Association has started a relationship with these two donors.

“These judo gears will help with the expansion of teaching of judo especially for young children and also for adults,” he said.

“This also came in a very good time because the association is putting out judo programmes in school which started today.

“The instructors are out in schools and the numbers of childvren have turned up to learn about judo.

“This is just the start of what hopefully will be a successful program in many schools around Apia and hopefully we will expand the program so that children will be able to learn judo.”

Japanese Ambassador to Samoa Tuimaugaoalii Kasumasa Shibuta said he is very happy to help the Samoa Judo Association in any way he can.

“This is the first step of the corporation with Judo Federation of the Japanese Government,” he said.

“Not only with the gears but we have also sent here our volunteer for Judo Fubuki Eguchi to help out with the development of Judo.”
