The 2018 Malua Conference is well underway

The Malua Theological College compound is perhaps the busiest place in Samoa this week.

It is where hundreds of church members are gathering for the main conference of the C.C.C.S. Church, the biggest denomination in the country.

The pre-meetings – including the women’s meetings – were held last week as a prelude to the General Assembly which started on Monday.

A number of issues pertaining to the development of the church are on the agenda. One of the most controversial topics is the Church’s response to the Government’s law taxing the income of Pastors.

The C.C.C.S. had opposed the law saying their final decision would be made at Malua this year.

Although no official word has come from the Church’s General Secretary, Reverend Vavatau Taufao, the Samoa Observer has been told that church will continue to oppose the law.

In the meantime, the meeting is attended by hundreds of church members from overseas.

And as usual, hundreds more families in Samoa visit Malua to take food and gifts to express their love and support for the delegations at the meeting.

Here are some photos from Malua.
