P.M. scoffs at Damian McGrath

The Chairman of the Samoa Rugby Union, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi, has scoffed at the $1million tala lawsuit being brought by former Manu Samoa Sevens coach, Damian McGrath.

Tuilaepa told the media yesterday that McGrath was acting like a cry baby.

“Those are the actions of a person who feels that he failed to fulfill what he was brought here to do, which is to secure us a place in Olympics,” said Tuilaepa.

“Now he’s crying to the Court. We can’t stop that.”

Tuilaepa said that is typical of crybabies.  “You know anyone who is a crybaby that is how they act. Why try to sooth him when we should let him go to Court.”

Tuilaepa said McGrath should remember that he failed to secure a place for Samoa at the Rio Olympics, which was the main reason he was appointed.

“What happened in France was something small,” he said about the team winning the Paris Sevens in H.S.B.C World Series.

“The whole thing is being able to go to Rio. So I’ll let him cry all he wants.  “Its nothing new taking someone to Court if you don’t like them… the important thing it is how much dollars you get out of it.”

The lawsuit targets the S.R.U. and Chief Executive Officer, Faleomavaega Vincent Fepuleai.

McGrath is taking the parties to Court over his removal from his position as head coach of Manu Samoa 7s earlier this year.

McGrath is taking legal action for alleged defamation of character and wrongful dismissal over his position. The matter is scheduled to be mentioned before the Supreme Court on the 19th December 2016. Faleomavaega declined to comment when he was asked.
