Mai Company opens

If you are looking for one place where you can find a wide range of hardware products for your home and new plants for your garden, then ‘Mai Company’ is the place to go to.

All under one roof, the new store at Taufusi now welcomes you to choose from the variety of their products.

‘Mai Company’ is owned by Foma’i and Leata Lei Sam, who also own, Sheng Constructions.

General Manager of Mai Company, Ropeta Lei Sam, said the company was a dream her family has had ever since the beginning of their construction company.

“We decided that we would be our own suppliers for our own construction company so that’s why we thought of having our own hardware store,” she said. “And we did it, our dream became a reality.”

Mai Company offers a range of hardware products such as aluminium boards, timber, electrical products, all sorts of pipes, cement, mesh wires and a garden centre.

“We have all sorts of plants for any occasions, like new gardens, pot plants for birthdays and anniversary,” said Ropeta.

All the plants are from her mother’s nursery.

“It comes from her landscaping because she is a landscaper,” said Ropeta.

You can get a plant from $20 up to $2,000 at Mai Company.

Sheng Construction will also be based at the Mai Company Building at Taufusi.

It took them more than seven months to build the new store and the cost of the building itself was $700,000.

“But together with the stocks and everything, the projects come up to $2 million.”

Since they opened last Friday, Ropeta said they have been getting a lot of customers.

“It’s been very busy. A lot of people have been coming in and they have been very satisfied with our prices.

“Basically we have the cheapest rate in town and our competitor advantage is our price.”

However, despite all the stress from a very busy week for Mai Company, Ropeta said they are pleased to be able to serve Samoa.

With a smile on her face, Ms. Lei Sam said: “We are here to provide service for you and we will be very happy to assist you with whatever help you may need.”
