The reality for us and the Games

Dear Editor,

Re: Let’s back our Polynesian brothers

Jeepers, one day I am dealing with extreme anti-government fanatics and the next I am dealing with extreme pro-government fanatics like you Bruin.

I am not trying to talk down the country. I am fully aware that all the facilities are in place. Nothing new needs to be built.

Also by 2019, Samoa’s internet and digital television infrastructure will be vastly improved with two or possibly three fibre optic cables in place by then.

I am just saying that if it was a race between Tahiti v Samoa v Fiji, the Pacific Games Council is highly unlikely to come back to Samoa so soon after 2007.

The other two countries/territories have good facilities already built as well. If you think Tahiti’s economy depends on Aggie Grey’s owning the Le Meridien then you have rocks in your head.

It is great for Samoa that our company is earning foreign currency but Tahiti’s economy does not depend on us. And yes we do need Tahiti Nui to fly to Samoa. We need many more airlines to fly to Samoa. Not just Polynesian 2.0 and Air New Zealand. Anyway, the point is moot as Samoa has now entered a bid to host the 2019 Games.
