Never give up. Do it not just for yourself but also your family.

That’s the advice from Sipa Fata, 45 – year - old from the village of Afega when the Village Voice caught up with him while he was at work.

“Nothing is hard if we trust ourselves,” he said.

“I have no children and I stay with my siblings.

“Nowadays it is very hard to raise a family.

“The cost of living makes it very hard for everyone to raise their own families.

“But what else can we do? We can’t just let other people provide for us and our family, we work things out and do it any way we can.”

Sipa works as a night time security officer.

“I find work so hard but I’m thankful that at least I’m working. Despite the tough and hard job to deal with, I still try to enjoy myself.”

Sipa believes people who work hard will be blessed.

“Knowing what you do is for your loved ones is a real blessing for me.

“This is why I don’t want to have a family of my own, I want to support my siblings. I want to be part of my family forever.”

He said his family is well settled and they have access to both water and power.

“Like I said the work you do will always come back to you. So don’t give up.”
