Mother strikes it lucky
Mother’s Day has arrived early for Fa’apusi Salaa Siaosi, of Sapapali’i Savai’i.
The mother of seven has walked away with $6,000 thanks to the popular TV Bingo Show.
A $10 ticket has turned into $6,000 bonus the 58-year-old and she could not be happier.
“I am grateful to Sinaupualofa Trust for allowing people to have a chance to have a better life,” she said. “God works in different ways and this is one way of him blessing me.”
“The price for the ticket that I paid for was worth $1000, but they have added $5000 more to my bonus. So now I am walking home with $6000 in my pocket.”
Fa’apusi said the money is an early birthday gift for her since she was born in May.
The TV Bingo Show is facilitated by the Sinaupualofa Trust and aired on TV1.
Patea Taveuveu Aipovi said the TV Bingo aims to keep mothers and fathers at home at night so that they don’t have to leave their houses in search of money and prizes .
“Our thinking is a different way to lessen violence in families and for everybody to be happy,” Patea said.
“We believe the reason of why there are so many conflicts in families is because of the people struggling financially. When there is money in any family there will be understanding and a solution to problems.”
“This is the reason people work so they could have money to support their families. There are certain times when there is no money and people become sick because of stress. There are so many obligations and commitments we need to fulfil and money is the key.”
Patea said Fa’apusi had entered to win the $1,000 ticket but they have added $5,000 more.
“We usually make around $1000 profit from all the tickets we sell. With that money we use it to pay off the workers and it all depends on how many people that are playing.”
“Not everybody in Samoa is involved in the game. There are certain days when some viewers will play this week then don’t play the following week.”
“This is the first time we have had a lucky winner with $1000 prize. We are very proud that this was possible. We want to give something back to our loyal players.”
