The former General Manager of the Samoa Ports Authority, Aiganalaavasa Uialatea Asofa Fereti, has passed away.

This was confirmed by a government official yesterday.

It was not possible to get a comment from his family or his office at the time of print.

Aiganalaavasa resigned from his position as General Manager at the Samoa Ports Authority (SPA) at the end of last month.

“He has resigned from the job because of health issues,” the source said.

In February last year, Cabinet approved the appointment of Aiganalaavasa.

He took over from former General Manager, Tufuga Fagaloa Tufuga.

Aiganalaavasa worked for five years as the Director of Transport for Tokelau and also as the Director of Transport and Support Service at the Apia, Tokelau office.

Prior to that, he had worked for Pacific Forum Line and Polynesian Shipping Limited. He has more than ten years experience in the shipping industry.
