What’s good for Apia is also good for the outback

Dear Editor,

Re: Samoa’s state of denial

All things considered, we cannot have a fair comparison between outside/developed countries and Samoa.

Samoa is still very much an agrarian society, and yet there’s so much demand in things where money is a must.

Perhaps the worst of these, is the church, especially because its demands on the offerings are either compulsory, imposed or would cause the people to become guilt-ridden if they don’t meet them.

They’re also often done on a competitive and one upmanship basis.

Also, Jeffery, there’s a lot of people who own cars in the villages not just those in Apia.

Therefore, perhaps they need more for petrol and auto maintenance because of the distance they drive to and from town.

People in the villages, I’m sure, have loans to pay too.

By the way, didn’t someone say that what is good for Apia is also good for kua (outback)?
