The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) yesterday signed over an agreement to fund an office for the Samoa Associations of Manufacturers and Exporters (SAME).
UNDP Resident Coordinator and Representative, Ms. Nileema Noble signed the agreement over to SAME at the Alaimoana hotel.
“We hope this agreement will show our continuous support and relationship with SAME.”
Ms. Noble went on to praise the important and significant role of the private sector in the development of Samoa.
“We believe that the driver of investment and job creations is with institutions and associations like SAME.”
President and Vice President of SAME – Oliva Vaai & Eddie Wilson - guaranteed that the funds will form the foundation and development for SAME.
“This is a historic event for us,” said the vice president of SAME, Eddie Wilson. “It’s a very important landmark for SAME.”
Vaai added that with these funds, SAME will be in a position where they can consult with local members and those who need information.
“We also believe it will enable SAME to strengthen the capability of members to compete.”
“We assure you the funds provided will be put to use for the growth of our organisation.”
He added that with the office SAME will be a much stronger association.
The office will be opened on the Saturday 1st of June during Samoa’s 51st Independence Day.
Ms. Noble wished them well.
