Opening pathway for Samoans to work in Australia

Australian Labour mobility executives were in Samoa last week. They were here as part of Pacific Trade Invest (P.T.I.) Australia’s Business mission. Last month at the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum in Nauru, Samoa signed an agreement with Australia to join Australia’s Pacific Labour Scheme, which will provide semi-skilled Samoans a new pathway to work in Australia on a three-year visa.

New Zealand rallied then held out a late Kangaroos comeback to beat Australia 26-24 in a rugby league upset on Saturday. Joseph Manu and Brandon Smith scored tries on debut, and Esan Masters, who scored on debut in New Zealand's previous test against England, also touched down during a second half in which the Kiwis outscored the Kangaroos 18-12 after trailing 12-8 at halftime.

So you think Mr. Editor the CCCS church ministers, who are earning very very high incomes, should continue to be treated differently from the rest of the taxpayers in Samoa, and give them an exceptional utmost above all else courtesy in the country?

Dear Editor I read with interest the story titled “Govt. refuses to pay $5.58 million for Ti’avea land.” My interest antenna went up when I saw the Minister’s comments regarding the asking price for Tiavea’s land, which is being used for the airport.

Dear Editor, Re: It’s women who make things happen Ninety-seven percent of climate scientists agree that climate-warming trends over the past century are very likely due to human activities. Most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position.
