Haleck Investments Ltd has decided on a name for its resort to be built at Fagaiofu Bay at Falelatai.
It’s Survivor Samoa Beach Resort, KHJ Radio reports.
The name comes from the Survivor series.
The resort site is one of the 10 filming locations selected for the 19th season of the series, the radio station reports.
Spokesman for the American Samoa-based company,  Avamua Dave Haleck, says with the publicity generated by the series, they decided on the name for it.

Avamua believes American Samoa will receive exposure and business benefits from the filming of the world renowned reality TV series Survivor in Samoa.
Avamua says filming will begin in early June and last till October.
He explained that due to the use of the resort site for the Survivor series, they have had to postpone the resort development until the filming is over.
Originally the Haleck’s resort had a working name of “LupeSina at Fagaiofu, Falelatai.”
Avamua told Samoa Observer in February they were targeting late 2010 to open the resort with “25 to 30 fale/bungalow type accommodations.”
“Our goal is to complete the road to the beach and once there, conduct surveys/elevations in order for our engineers/architects to plan out the Resort.

“The Resort … will be completed in phases. Our goal is to get up to 150 rooms to include over water fale/bungalow accommodations with a three-story structure to house meeting rooms, dining facilities and king suite type rooms.
“All facing the sea to capture the tradewinds and sea breezes.  On the higher elevations, we plan to build high end condominiums for those who seek their privacy.

“Snorkeling, kayaking, diving, jet skiing, boating, deep sea fishing, walking trails under the lush forest areas, are all planned future activities.  Tourism is key to Samoa’s economy and we plan to further support Samoa’s economy with (the) Resort.
“Haleck Investments Ltd. plan to market both Samoas with the new Resort and our 4 star Tradewinds Hotel property in Pago Pago.”
