Toa Samoa coach Willie Po Ching has finalised a training squad for the rugby league team for the 2009 Pacific Cup and qualifier match in October.

The Pacific Campaign will start off with Toa Samoa to play Cook Islands in Cairns come 17th October with the winner to fly to Papua New Guinea to participate in the 2009 Pacific Nations Cup.

“The team is fine mix of experienced internationals along with players who will be key members for the future of the Toa Samoa team.  In these exciting times for the Pacific nations, Samoa aims to further establish a team that attracts more young Samoa rugby league players to be proud to represent their country, heritage and people,” said Po Ching.

Furthermore he stated, “Selection is representative of players from Australia’s NRL, England’s Super League and Samoa’s very own domestic competition.  Player performance to date together with their eligibility status is vital going into final selection.  Together with players not included on the list at this time, all are being closely monitored between now and the time of selection of the final squad.

A final team for the Pacific Cup will be finalised in October while training for the 7s team for the Pacific Mini

Games and trial game against New Zealand Residents is underway.  Final team for Mini Games and against the New Zealand Residents will be know at the end of August.
