The deadly tsunami last Tuesday has left some 35 children parentless, possibly more.
These children need families to stay with, Good Samaritans helping them said.
Antonia Slater said it was sad to see the difficulties they are going through.
“We’ve seen most of these kids on the hills with no adults and some running inland with no hope,” Mrs Slater said.

She said she was disappointed to find out some families had not received help like water and food, a week after the disaster.

“This is just not right and I hope whatever the problem is, it should be fixed right away,” she said.
She said they’ve visited most families who begged for help. The orphan kids, said Mrs Slater, are under the care of Samoa Victim Support Group. They are looking for families to live with.
“They really need good families because the government shelter cannot take care of them forever,” Mrs Slater said.

Most of them have lost their parents. The parents of some of them are in critical condition at the hospital.
Susan Baragwanath said it was important for these children to find good families to live with.

“They need to be in a family, and they need to go to school,” she said.
Mrs Baragwanath said their priority is to make sure they are healthy.

“Some of them swallowed lots of sea water and they need check-ups for pneumonia,” she said.
She said it’s a good feeling to go out and help all these poor kids who are in need.

“So please whoever wants to take these kids in, we just want to make sure they will be in good hands,” Mrs Baragwanath said.
The orphans are from the villages of Saleaumua, Saleapaga, Satitoa, Lalomanu and Vavau.
They can be found at the Government shelter number 55 at Malifa.
